Cristian Mungiu's 'Fjord' won the Jakarta World Cinema Audience Award, the festival's only feature prize, while the KlikFilm short competition gave three Indonesian directors funding for first features, Variety reports.

Cristian Mungiu's Palme d'Or winner "Fjord" has taken the Audience Award at Jakarta World Cinema, according to Variety. The film, which also opened the festival, won what is described as the event's only feature prize. The festival closed with the Indonesian premiere of Thai horror film "Inherit" by director Banjong Pisanthanakun, who attended with the film's star Davika Hoorne for a question-and-answer session with the audience.

The closing ceremony also announced the winners of the KlikFilm Short Movie Competition, run by the Indonesian streaming platform that powers the festival. Submissions were open from April to July and drew more than 300 shorts from across Indonesia. The jury was made up of horror director Joko Anwar, writer-director Gina S. Noer and filmmaker Khozy Rizal. The top prize went to Jusuf Witjaksono's "Karim," which comes with full production and distribution funding for his debut feature from Falcon Pictures. Adam Hasyim Al Raschid's "Air Pangea" and Ali Yafie Muzaki's "The Grave of Dreams" were named first and second runners-up, and each director also receives full funding for a debut feature from KlikFilm. Zaky Alfawwaz's "Callsh#t" won the short film audience award, and Michael Juan Saptayada's "OTW" took the Special Jury Prize.

Festival executive director Frederica said more than 25,000 people attended screenings at CGV Grand Indonesia over the festival's eight days, Variety reports. The funding commitments are the most concrete outcome for Indonesian filmmakers, although budgets, production timelines and release plans for the three planned debut features were not disclosed in the report. The details here rest on a single trade-press account of the closing ceremony, and further information may emerge from the festival or the companies involved.
