Apple released iOS 27.2 on 26 October, adding Apple Pencil support and an Edge Light video-call feature to the iPhone Duo, plus Siri AI in more languages, according to The Verge.

Apple has released iOS 27.2, the latest update to its mobile operating system, according to The Verge. Its headline addition is Apple Pencil support for the iPhone Duo, the company's first foldable phone. Apple had said earlier that Pencil support would arrive "later this year", and the update also brings an "Edge Light" feature for the Duo that is designed to illuminate the user's face during video calls.

The Duo pairs a 7.6-inch inner display with a 5.4-inch outer screen, and iOS 27 includes revised controls built for both. The Verge reports that many major apps, including Netflix, Prime Video and Microsoft Outlook, already take advantage of the extra screen space, while some others still need work. On the software side, iOS 27.2 lets Siri AI take suggested actions in Messages and extends Siri AI to more languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Citing 9to5Mac, The Verge also says Apple is rolling out support for Google's SynthID AI watermark in Photos and Image Playground.

Smaller changes include user profiles in the Apple TV app on iPhone, a redesigned Apple Podcasts screen that replaces the "Up Next" queue with a "New Episodes" list and a "Continue Playing" section, and a new Apple Music logo. Group FaceTime calls now support dual capture, so participants can show both the front and rear cameras. Apple also released macOS 27.2 Golden Gate, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and HomePod 27.2. This report relies on a single publisher, and Apple's own release notes should be consulted for the definitive list of changes.
