The Scottish indie band shares its first new music in six years and confirms an 11-date UK and Ireland tour, with tickets going on sale on Friday, October 30.

Glasvegas have returned with their first new music in six years, releasing the single 'Degüello' from their fifth album, 'Airy Fairy'. According to NME, which interviewed frontman James Allan, the record is due on Friday, April 2 via Modern Sky UK, and the band describes it as a 'wiser' follow-up to 2021's 'Godspeed'. The album's ten-track list opens with 'Degüello' and also includes 'Holiday & Travel Brochure', 'Virtually Real' and 'Lost In L.A.'.

Allan told NME that the song's title, Spanish for 'cutthroat', came from a word he first heard in an old film and used as shorthand for the less flattering parts of his personality, such as a bad temper. He said the song is his 'elaborate plan of being something better'. He also said 'Airy Fairy' was written in reaction to frustrations experienced while making 'Godspeed', partly on the engineering side, and that this time the band had outside help and made a point of enjoying the process together. On the title, he said the phrase was once something he saw as negative but now regards as part of who he is.

The band will tour the UK and Ireland in 2027, with 11 dates announced. The dates listed by NME begin at Glasgow's O2 Academy on May 1 and continue through Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Bristol and London. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, October 30. Allan said he wants the Glasgow show to feel like 'theatre', and called for better pay and more places to play for emerging musicians. The details come from a single publisher report and the band's own statements, and dates may change.
